Multinational School

Dear Parents,

It has been pleasing to see how eager our students have been at the start of this academic year. They have settled into new routines and are enthusiastically looking forward to the term ahead.
Our curriculum topics for this first semester are as follows:
Year Two.

• The students are learning all about themselves and their families.
• The topic on Oceans and Sea Creatures will be explored and provide many opportunities for map work.

Year Three.

Their first topic will be about keeping healthy. It will cover nutrition and the importance of exercising.   Later in the term the children will be studying the characteristic features of living things which will include human and animal skeletons, plants and habitats.

Year  Four.

• Students will be investigating the life cycles of different plants and animals. The children have been busily working on displays which combine science and art work.
• In the topic on mapping skills, students will learn to use an atlas to locate and identify places using longitude and latitude. They will also describe positions using compass directions.
• The topic ‘Explorers’ promises to be one of the highlights for this semester. The students will have opportunities to work cooperatively and share their ideas with others.

A number of exciting activities have already been planned for this year.  Our first event will be called ‘A Look into the Future’ and will involve a morning where parents can listen to student presentations and admire their posters and models.

We also intend to hold a Spelling Bee this year. The event will be a sponsored, educational but fun activity, to encourage students with their spelling and raise funds to upgrade equipment through active student participation.

Our Year 3 and 4 disco and games afternoon in June was a tremendous success and children are already requesting that this be repeated in the near future.
